◎简　　介　

故事始于1995年冬天的底特律。在一家名为The Shelter的hip-hop俱乐部里，每到周末乐手们都聚在一起，进行一对一的60秒钟表演比赛，最后由人群决定谁是此轮的胜出者，进入下一轮直至决出周冠军。当轮到小吉米·史密斯（艾米纳姆饰）上台表演时，他却卡壳了。　　
　　随后我们进入到吉米的个人生活之中。他在酒店当门童，因与女友分手而丢掉了汽车，不得不重回到拖车里和母亲（金·贝辛格饰）以及同母异父的妹妹一起生活。吉米继续着他的个人奋斗：他不仅要面对被轰下台来的尴尬，还要应付与母亲一起住在拖车里生活的现实。与此同时，母亲男友的出现，来自生活、工作和朋友的压力，与一群hip-hop乐手的激烈竞争……所有的这一切，都需要他去面对解决。
　　故事聚焦于一个年轻人的生活，表现出主人公试图冲破团体与家庭的束缚，建立自己个性的情感斗争，以及他勇于用音乐表达愤怒和恐惧，跨越种族与个人的身心障碍，并最终逃离底特律城的生活经历。
